Worship With Us

You're Welcome Here

Join us every Sunday at 10:15 am for an uplifting and thought-provoking worship service lead by on of our Senior Co-Ministers that will nourish your heart, mind and spirit.

Worship at FUUSN helps us reflect on important spiritual and ethical questions, and equips us to lead lives of joy, meaning, and loving ethical commitment.

Each Sunday you can expect a worship service that includes joyful music, heartfelt prayers, beautiful poetry, and an inspiring message from one of the co-ministers that addresses the spiritual and moral questions that are relevant to your life.

When worship is over, many of us gather in the parlor for a social hour that features refreshments as well as an opportunity to get to know one another and build community.  Once a month, we have small group meetings after worship to discuss the worship theme.  There is also a monthly “Coffee with the Minister” for newcomers to learn more about us.

We also off Nursery care and religious education classes for children and youth on Sunday mornings, concurrent with worship. We hope that you’ll leave FUUSN each Sunday with the spiritual nourishment you need to make it through your week, and to live a more full, connected and loving life.

Rites of Passage

The birth and naming of children, coming of age, weddings, and memorials are all celebrated with special ceremonies. If you are interested in working with our religious professionals to plan a ceremony, please contact us to schedule further conversation.  These services are for members only.

Weddings

We proudly celebrate the unions of people of all genders and sexual orientations! Weddings at FUUSN include joyful music, readings from sources of the couple’s choosing, a brief reflection from the minister, and of course vows and the exchange of rings. The Senior Co-Ministers are available to members only to conduct their wedding at no charge.  However, rental rates for wedding receptions do apply.  Non-members may use the sanctuary for weddings by using other Unitarian Universalist clergy or ministerial students or be approved by the minister.

Funerals and Memorials

Gathering together to remember, to grieve, and to console one another in our loss is a blessing. Our memorial services for members are personalized to celebrate the unique gifts and stories that made up the life of the loved one, and include readings, music, prayer, and testimonials from friends and family. Members may reserve a niche in our columbarium or place a marker in our memorial garden by contacting our administrator. If you have experienced a loss and want to plan a memorial service or funeral, contact the minister to begin planning.

Child Dedications

We welcome children into our community with a ceremony to celebrate new life, the commitment and sacred duties of parents, godparents, and grandparents, and to affirm the congregation’s role in supporting children and parents as they grow together. Our dedication ceremonies are held in the sanctuary during a Sunday morning service for children born to members only. Parents wishing to schedule a dedication service may contact the minister.

Coming of Age

Young people in the Unitarian Universalist tradition are not given texts or creeds to memorize to affirm their faith. Instead, they spend time exploring the sources of their own beliefs and values with a mentor, with their peers, and with the congregation as a whole. They shape their reflections into a Credo, a statement of what they give their hearts to, as they mark the journey from being a child in the congregation to becoming a young adult member. We celebrate Coming of Age in a service where youth share their credos and we honor the mentors and parents who have helped them shape their faith. If you have a 7th or 8th grader you’d like to enroll, register them for our religious exploration program today!
